Surly x Cadillac shot...

On the way back to Nara the sun made a rare, brief appearance...

And a shika shot from the ride out through the park...

MTB's At ToJ

A few more pictures we're milking from last month's Tour Of Japan opening stage in Sakai, Osaka. This time it's MTB's. Hidden amongst all the road bikes there were a few very nice spectator's MTB's tucked away. Not one Litespeed...

But two! This second one kitted out with XTR and Mavic. #Want...

Also spotted on the day was this rather nice Gary Fisher full bouncer...

Before The Flood

It started off so well, a quick combini stop before heading over to Hiejo for an afternoon spin yesterday...

And then a hard rain fell. Buckets of rain. We ducked inside a doorway as thunder went crashing...

After an hour or so the rains let up...

A few photo ops in the usual places around the very, very wet palace...

Just watching the rivers flow...

The first reader to call in and list all the pretentious Bob Dylan references in this post wins a handle from the vandals.

F-i-N @ Kurokamiyamainari Shrine

Great photos (and some interesting local history) from last weekend's ride over on Fixed In Nara.

Rafu Cycling, Nara

We dropped into Rafu Cycling in Nara on Monday. Located where the old Guell store used to be, Rafu sell a selection of restored vintage road bikes sourced in Japan and overseas...

Inside the bright shop there are, as you would expect, bikes, frames, parts, bags and clothing...

A very nice De Rosa roadie hangs in the window...

With a gorgeous Motobecane up on the wall...

More lovely vintage bikes lined up on the floor...

Classic frames hanging from the ceiling...

Along with the obligatory selection of vintage caps...

A good range of luggage from Chrome...

Some very nice vintage parts on the shelves...

You have to keep your lube in the fridge during the Japanese summer...

A friendly, cool shop stocking some really interesting bikes and parts. Well worth seeking out when you find yourself in Japan.
