Rene's Kuwahara Kikuichi MTB

Now this is rather special. A little backstory, a few years ago Takashi-san from Kuwahara got Rene at Giracha a Kikuichi 26" frame. Rene took his time building it up with a stunning selection of modern parts that kept an old school MTB aesthetic. Having been busy with work and family life, Rene didn't have much time to actually ride the bike. Recently Kenji-san from Ballooner & Crazy Sheep has been taking Rene out on the local trails. Last week the bike was at Giracha, obviously I took a ton a photos...

That Nitto cockpit...

TMG13 FLV saddle...

Race Face cranks and FLV pedals...

And brakes...

Phil Wood hubs laced to H Plus rims...

An utterly stunning bike. Cheers to Rene and Sayaca for letting me shoot it.

A fabulous display of some of Kenji-san's collection from his BMX and MTB racing career...

The pop up shop runs until next Tuesday (27th) so if you're in the area go down and check it out. A big thank you to Sayaka for showing me the shop.

Vintage Kuwahara MTB @ Booon

This vintage Kuwahara MTB was one of the coolest bikes spotted at last weekend's Booon event in Osaka...

Pretty much all original parts apart from the suspension seat post and saddle...

Internal routing and a gorgeous paint job...

The lady that owned this bike actually took it to show Kuwahara-san who helped her get in serviced by the on site mechanic!

As usual we have a ton of photos from both days of the Booon event. Stay tuned.
